What is the best way to store coffee?Updated 5 months ago

For the freshest beans, we recommend storing them in an airtight container once opened, or in the bag with the edge folded tightly and secured with a chip clip, binder clip, or even an elastic band from a bunch of broccoli. The best location for storage is in a dry, room temperature location like a cupboard. We advise against storing it in the fridge or freezer, as the beans tend to absorb the odor of whatever food is nearby. Ew! It’s a common misconception that they will stay fresher longer in the fridge or freezer, but it actually makes your beans taste a little funky.

If you want the ultimate container for maintaining freshness, check out a product called Airscape. It’s a coffee storage canister with two lids: one that fits inside the canister body that is fitted with a one-way valve much like the one you find on our bags. Using a canister like this will keep your beans as fresh as they can be once opened.

And of course, using whole beans and only grinding the amount of coffee you’ll use immediately will help create the freshest cup of coffee.
